it seems like something has changed in the evidence base in canada regarding shingrix - can now get it over 19.

I think I might actually be considered immunocompromised as a result of low white blood cell counts. Should talk to doctor next time.

need to get third dose of hpv dealt with in a few months, need to not forget

Now that I’m taking the bus every day, I’m finding the 3M Aura 1870+ or 9205 masks are unbearably tight on the bridge of the nose - I think it’s designed for a smaller face. Adding the ski goggles for snowy weather makes it impossilbe

CanadaStrong has this wonderful sizing chart with the different brands.

Confirms that the 3M aura are small/medium.

Dräger X-plore 1950

First, the M/L version feels like it fits larger faces better than Auras. In particular, the bottom part tucks under my chin securely. Even better, it conforms to my face as I speak. Love that.

And cheaper!

want liner gloves - not necessarily because of the cold, but because my skin cracks when exposed to the cold

my hand is about 3.9" wide, 23 cm circumference, 19.5 cm long.

spent ages looking for liner gloves that look suitable.
People seem to recommend these Montbell CHAMEECE gloves.

Bought the medium size. Pretty pricey.

First errand trip.

Walked to the other corner of College and took the 4 to city center, went to an appointment.

Had a subway. Tastes better when you walk to get it!

Cabelas:

they seem to have re-branded the XL (size 12-15) work crew socks I like for winter. They have the same mix of fibers, though. Bought 2 packs. Didn’t see any balaclavas or things that I liked.

Canadian tire: Bought:

  • $80 75-kilo grocery cart. I already have a small red grocery cart.

  • $14 Outbounds balaclava. I needed something that I can pull down below my chin when wearing an N95. I bought their fancier, warmer,

  • Thin knitted gloves “camo”, $7. first pair I’ve found that work Too bad I ordered the fancy Montbell ones yesterday.

  • Energizer headlamp. Cheap! saved money compared to what I was going to buy online. Clipped it to my jacket’s breastpocket - works great when walking in the dark.

  • “base layer” - add details

Went home, assembled cart, walked to Safeway.

I bought $300 in food - pretty much everything was empty. The handles on the cart are a little too low, I need to stretch. My ankle and back is pretty sore - I’m sure I walked .

I still missed some things - Safeway doesn’t have the 2kg bags of frozen cauliflower, they don’t seem to carry any coleslaw dressing (gasp!). Dealing with the variability and inconsistency of stock between the stores is notable challenge.

It took about half an hour to get to Safeway, half an hour to

Anyway, I was all finished at 11 pm. Glad I had the subway, because I wouldn’t have had dinner. But I had all three meals today, yay!

I’m getting to a level of frugality where I. I could have paid a doordasher . There are indications that things are getting less stable, and the way. I’m reacting to that is to spend less money, trade time and manual labor. This is the way my parents often reacted to things. The other way (which I’ve had very good luck with in the past) is to spend more time at , develop more skills, make yourself more employable. I’ve already gone this direction at work and it worked well (I got a raise that I wouldn’t have gotten with the other strategy). Inflation has a hard time getting to skills.

However, there are unique factors at hand:

  • My mental health and sleep has not been better in the last 2 years. Being tired at the end of the day seems to make a big difference.
  • I need to re-build

The Dispossessed handled this well - when is it justifiable to make use of the luxuries of society to
